Introducing Iguana’s Crosscurrent Expedition
We’re building something new.
Iguana’s Crosscurrent Expedition is a three day outdoor adventure event bringing together 20 to 30 creators across water sports, endurance, fitness, travel, and the outdoors for a competition and camping experience built around Florida’s rivers, springs, trails, and wild spaces.
Day one begins with a public multi stage endurance competition where creators will move through a course involving water, trail, and outdoor challenges. We expect around 800 spectators to join us on site to watch the competition, explore outdoor activities, meet participating brands, shop, eat, and experience the event alongside the creators.
Once the public portion ends, the creators continue into a two day camping and hiking expedition. This part of Crosscurrent is designed to feel less like an event venue and more like a real outdoor experience. Creators will camp together, hike, recover, test products, spend time in nature, and document the weekend from their own point of view.
Crosscurrent is also designed differently from a traditional sponsorship event.
We want brands to actually become part of the experience.
A partner might build a public activation on race day, provide equipment used during a stage of the competition, create an outdoor challenge, introduce creators to a new product, support the camping portion, host a recovery experience, provide food or drinks, or simply create something fun for spectators to interact with.
The goal is not to surround creators with logos. We want products and brands to have a natural reason to be there.
And this is only the beginning.
Florida will be the first Crosscurrent Expedition, but we plan to take the concept to different environments across North America over time. Different waterways, different terrain, different challenges, and new groups of creators.
Because of that, we are especially interested in working with brands that want to get involved early and grow with the event long term.
We have 2 brand partnership spots remaining
We are currently looking for two additional brands to join the inaugural Crosscurrent Expedition.
Partnerships can include public event activations, product demonstrations, creator welcome kits, creator introductions, product integration into the competition, camping experiences, dedicated challenges, content assets, and deeper involvement throughout the weekend.
We are considering both gifted and paid partnerships, with priority given to paid partners and brands interested in building a longer term relationship with Crosscurrent.
We also have 10 creator spots remaining
We are still selecting 10 additional creators for the first expedition.
We are especially interested in creators across:
Water sports
Outdoor adventure
Endurance sports
Running
Cycling
Hiking
Camping
Freediving and diving
Extreme sports
Travel and exploration
You do not need to be a professional athlete, but you should genuinely enjoy being outside, pushing yourself, trying new things, and creating great content around the experience.
Crosscurrent is meant to bring together people who would actually want to spend three days racing, getting wet, getting tired, camping, exploring, and probably doing something they have never done before.
If you are a brand interested in joining the inaugural Crosscurrent Expedition, or a creator interested in one of the remaining spots, email hello@iguanagrowth.com.
This is the first one.
We plan on making it much bigger from here.
faq's
Everything You Need to Know
Clear answers to help you make an informed decision confidently and without any confusion.
How big does my audience need to be?
We actually go off of engagement rate and previous performance records.
What does this cost?
Retail engagements are structured around an initating fee then revenue share. Event production is scoped per project, typically a one time production fee.
Is my product actually ready for retail?
That’s the first thing we figure out. Most creator products are priced for DTC and lose money the second a retailer and a distributor each take their cut. Better to find that out now.
How far out do I need to book an event?
Three to eight weeks minimum for most formats.
Can you handle permits, insurance, and safety?
We handle most permits and safety with you and will require your collaboration with documentation. For insurance, we'd recommed our partners.
Can you guarantee you’ll get me into Target?
No, and anyone who guarantees you a buyer is selling something. But we'll definetly hit your retail targets.
How long does retail actually take?
Category reviews run on fixed calendars. Miss a window and it’s six to twelve months. Realistically, plan on six to nine months from first call to shelf.
What if the event loses money?
We model ticket pricing and event cost before you commit. If the economics don’t work, we pivot. We cannot guarantee a set revenue target.
